Lumo

1. agreement and eligibility

By downloading, purchasing, accessing, or using Lumo, you agree to these Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

You must be at least 13 to use Lumo. If you are under the age of majority where you live, a parent or guardian must approve your use and any purchase. You must be legally permitted to use the app in your location.

2. what Lumo provides

Lumo is an educational iOS app that teaches artificial-intelligence concepts through short lessons, quizzes, progress mechanics, reminders, an AI tutor called Lumo, GPT-generated read-aloud audio, and a feed of recent AI headlines.

You receive a limited, personal, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Lumo on Apple devices you own or control, subject to these terms and Apple’s App Store Usage Rules. Lumo does not provide an account system, cloud backup, accredited certification, or formal academic credit.

3. educational use, not professional advice

Lumo is designed for general education. Lessons, quiz feedback, tutor replies, article context, examples, and read-aloud audio are not medical, legal, financial, employment, safety, cybersecurity, or other professional advice.

Artificial intelligence changes quickly. We work to keep the curriculum useful, but specific model names, capabilities, prices, benchmarks, product availability, laws, and industry practices can become outdated. Check primary and qualified sources before relying on information for a consequential decision.

4. Lumo and AI-generated features

Lumo’s tutor replies, requested explanations, and read-aloud voice are generated through OpenAI services. AI output can be incomplete, inaccurate, repetitive, biased, inappropriate, or confidently wrong. It may not reflect the newest information unless the app supplies current feed context.

You remain responsible for reviewing AI output and deciding whether to use it. Do not rely on Lumo as the sole source for a decision that could affect health, rights, money, employment, security, or safety. The voice you hear from read-aloud controls is AI-generated and is not a recording of a human tutor.

5. AI Daily and external articles

AI Daily retrieves headlines and links from public publisher and research-lab feeds. Lumo may ask OpenAI to create a short line explaining why a headline could matter. That explanation may be based on the headline and limited feed metadata rather than the full article.

Headlines, dates, availability, and external pages are controlled by their publishers. Inclusion does not mean endorsement. Always open and read the original source before repeating, citing, or acting on an AI Daily summary.

6. your prompts and responsibility

You retain any rights you have in text you submit to the tutor. You give Lumo and its service providers permission to process that text only as needed to provide, secure, and improve the requested service and comply with law.

Do not submit passwords, payment details, health records, confidential business information, trade secrets, or another person’s personal information without a lawful reason and their permission. You are responsible for the content you submit and how you use generated output.

7. acceptable use

You may not use Lumo to violate law or another person’s rights; harass, threaten, defraud, exploit, or harm others; interfere with the app or connected services; bypass purchase controls; probe or attack systems; extract the curriculum or generated content in bulk; impersonate another person; or reverse engineer the app except where applicable law expressly permits it.

You must also follow the acceptable-use requirements of Apple, OpenAI, and other services used through the app. We may restrict features or access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security, legal requirements, or harm.

8. Lumo Plus subscriptions

Lumo may offer auto-renewing weekly and yearly Plus plans. The exact price, currency, billing period, free trial or introductory offer, included features, and renewal terms displayed in Lumo and Apple’s purchase sheet when you confirm are the controlling commercial terms.

  • Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase, or when an eligible trial ends.
  • The subscription renews automatically for the displayed period until you cancel it.
  • To avoid a paid renewal after a trial, cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends. Regional rules may differ.
  • Manage or cancel in iOS Settings > your name > Subscriptions, or through Apple’s subscription-management page.
  • Deleting Lumo or using “delete all data” does not cancel a subscription.
  • Use “restore purchases” in the app while signed in to the Apple Account used for purchase.
  • Apple handles billing, taxes, cancellations, and refund decisions. Price changes and refunds are governed by Apple and applicable law.

Free access, daily limits, hearts, course access, tutor usage, and Plus features may evolve. A change does not remove mandatory consumer rights or access already owed for a paid billing period.

9. ownership and feedback

Lumo’s software, brand, curriculum, lesson structure, illustrations, characters, graphics, and original copy are owned by the app’s operator or licensors and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These terms do not transfer ownership to you.

If you voluntarily send feedback or suggestions, you permit us to use them to operate and improve Lumo without an obligation to compensate you. Personal information in feedback remains subject to the Privacy Policy.

10. third-party services and links

Lumo relies on Apple, OpenAI, RevenueCat, internet access, notification services, and public news feeds. Third-party terms and privacy policies apply to their own services. External articles and websites are outside our control, and we are not responsible for their content, availability, security, or later changes.

11. availability and changes to the app

We may add, change, limit, suspend, or discontinue features for maintenance, product development, security, misuse prevention, third-party changes, or legal compliance. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, compatibility with every device or iOS version, permanent access to a particular model or news source, or permanent retention of local progress.

12. disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumo is provided “as is” and “as available.” We do not guarantee that the app or its content will be uninterrupted, error-free, complete, current, secure, suitable for a particular purpose, or free from harmful or incorrect AI output.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions. Nothing in these terms excludes warranties, remedies, or consumer protections that cannot legally be excluded.

13. limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Lumo and its operator are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive loss arising from use of or inability to use the app, reliance on educational or AI-generated content, external articles, subscription issues, service interruption, or loss of locally stored progress.

Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited, including mandatory consumer rights and any liability that applicable law requires us to retain.

14. suspension, termination, and changes

You may stop using Lumo at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if you materially breach these terms, misuse the service, create security or legal risk, or if the service is discontinued. Subscription cancellation remains a separate action through Apple.

We may update these terms as Lumo changes. The effective date identifies the current version. Where law requires notice or consent, we will provide it. Otherwise, continuing to use Lumo after revised terms take effect means you accept them where permitted.

15. Apple terms and applicable rights

Apple’s Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies in addition to these terms unless a valid custom licence replaces it. The app is licensed, not sold.

If you live in the European Union, United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction with mandatory consumer protections, you keep all rights that cannot be waived by contract. The law and courts that apply to you may depend on your residence and Apple’s applicable terms.
