By downloading, accessing, or using Smile Lock, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
1. Use of the app
Smile Lock provides tools for protecting selected apps with Apple Screen Time controls and temporarily unlocking them after a smile check. You may use the app for lawful personal use only.
The app depends on iOS permissions, Apple Screen Time features, device settings, notifications, network access, camera access, and third-party services. Some features may not work on every device, account type, region, iOS version, or Screen Time configuration.
2. Smile checks and AI output
Smile Lock may use AI to evaluate a photo, estimate whether a smile is present, assign a smile score, and generate short reactions or personal summaries. AI output may be inaccurate, inconsistent, delayed, incomplete, or unsuitable.
Smile scores and reactions are for habit-building and entertainment. They are not medical, mental health, biometric identity, employment, legal, safety, or professional advice.
3. Your content and permissions
You are responsible for the profile details, selected apps, camera images, and other content you provide. You must have permission to capture or submit any face, image, text, or information used with Smile Lock.
You grant Smile Lock permission to process your content only as needed to provide app features, operate the service, enforce limits, maintain reliability, and provide support.
4. Subscriptions and billing
Smile Lock may offer optional auto-renewing Smile Lock Pro subscriptions through Apple In-App Purchase. Available plans may include a weekly subscription and a yearly subscription. The exact price, duration, renewal terms, and included Pro features are shown in the app before purchase.
- Billing: Apple charges your Apple ID account after purchase confirmation.
- Auto-renewal: subscriptions renew automatically until canceled. Apple may charge the account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancellation: cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid renewal.
- Management: manage, cancel, renew, upgrade, or downgrade subscriptions in Apple account subscription settings.
- Restores: use Restore Purchases in-app for eligible transactions.
- Trials and offers: if a free trial, introductory offer, or promotional offer is shown, the app will display the offer terms before purchase.
- Refunds: refunds are handled by Apple under Apple policies.
5. Screen Time controls and access
Smile Lock uses Apple Screen Time, Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity APIs where available. These systems are controlled by iOS and Apple. Shields, unlock sessions, reports, notifications, and app launches may fail, be delayed, or behave differently depending on Apple systems and local device settings.
Do not rely on Smile Lock to block emergency, medical, safety, financial, work-critical, or time-critical apps. You are responsible for keeping any apps you may urgently need accessible.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the app for illegal, abusive, deceptive, harmful, or infringing activity.
- Capture, upload, or analyze another person's face without permission.
- Use the app to make decisions about identity, employment, credit, insurance, housing, education, safety, or medical care.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, disrupt, overload, scrape, or exploit the app or connected services.
- Bypass subscription access controls, tamper with Screen Time controls, or misuse App Store purchase systems.
7. Third-party services
Smile Lock is not affiliated with Apple, OpenAI, or the apps you choose to protect unless stated otherwise. Third-party services may change, delay, limit, reject, or discontinue functionality at any time.
8. Availability and changes
We may modify, suspend, limit, or discontinue features at any time. We may also update these terms and app functionality.
9. Warranty disclaimer
Smile Lock is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by law, Smile Lock and its operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including lost data, missed notifications, failed shields, failed unlocks, subscription issues, app access problems, business losses, or personal losses.
11. Privacy
Use of Smile Lock is also subject to our Privacy Policy.
12. Termination
You may stop using Smile Lock at any time. We may limit or terminate access for misuse or violation of these terms.
