1. scope and who is responsible
This Privacy Policy applies to the Pray First iOS app, its app extensions, and the Pray First pages on this website. “Pray First,” “we,” and “us” refer to the app’s operator. For privacy questions, contact anthonyvvza@gmail.com.
Pray First does not sell personal information and does not use camera captures for advertising or facial recognition.
2. information we process
Depending on how you use Pray First, the app may process:
- Onboarding and personalization answers, including your name, prayer rhythm, faith season, intention, preferred guidance style, estimated screen time, daily prayer time, and scripture-pause preferences.
- Screen Time selections, including the apps, categories, and websites you choose to protect through Apple’s Family Controls interface.
- Prayer and scripture activity, including completion dates, verification confidence, verses read, streaks, and notification settings.
- A live camera capture when you ask Pray First to verify the prayer pose.
- Purchase and entitlement data, such as product identifier, transaction or receipt information, subscription status, and expiry date.
- Support information you choose to send by email.
- Website technical information that hosting and analytics services may receive, such as IP address, browser/device type, visited page, and approximate event time.
Pray First currently does not require you to create an in-app account. Apple and RevenueCat may nevertheless use purchase-related identifiers to provide and restore subscription access.
3. camera and AI pose verification
When you start the prayer check, Pray First uses the front camera to capture one still image. Apple Vision first checks basic body-pose points on the device. If that check passes, a compressed version of the image and limited personalization context are sent over an encrypted connection to the OpenAI API to determine whether the required pose is visible.
The check is limited to posture. Pray First instructs the model not to infer identity, religion, beliefs, sincerity, emotion, health, ethnicity, or other sensitive traits. The app does not create a face template, identify you, compare you with another person, or accept photo-library uploads for this prayer check.
Pray First does not save the prayer-check image to your photo library or app history. The image is released by the app after the check. OpenAI may process and retain API data under its then-current service terms, security controls, and retention policies. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API customer opts in. See OpenAI’s business data information.
4. Screen Time and Family Controls
App blocking uses Apple’s Family Controls, Managed Settings, and Device Activity frameworks. Your selected applications, categories, and web domains are stored on your device in Pray First’s shared app-group storage so the main app and its Screen Time extensions can apply or remove shields at the times you configure.
Pray First uses these selections only to provide the protection you requested. Screen Time permission can be revoked in iOS Settings. Revoking permission may prevent Pray First from blocking selected items.
5. why information is used
- Personalize onboarding, guidance, prayer reminders, and scripture timing.
- Block and unblock your chosen apps, categories, and websites.
- Verify the requested prayer pose and record completion—not the image.
- Show prayer history, scripture history, streaks, and progress.
- Provide and restore paid features and prevent purchase errors.
- Respond to support requests, maintain reliability, secure the service, and comply with law.
Where applicable, processing is based on performance of the app service you request, consent (including camera, AI, Screen Time, and notification permissions), legitimate interests in operating and securing the app, and legal obligations.
6. service providers
- Apple provides app distribution, device permissions, Family Controls/Screen Time APIs, notifications, In-App Purchase billing, subscription management, and refunds.
- OpenAI processes the temporary image and supplied context needed for the requested prayer-pose verification.
- RevenueCat receives end-user technical and transaction information such as device type, last-seen time, Apple receipt data, product identifiers, and subscription entitlement state so Pray First can provide and restore access. Read RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- Vercel hosts this website and provides privacy-oriented web analytics and infrastructure logs.
Providers may process information in countries other than your own. Their own terms and privacy practices apply to their processing.
7. storage and retention
Personalization answers, Screen Time selections, schedules, completion history, and preferences are primarily stored locally on your device. Pray First keeps prayer history for up to 365 entries and scripture history for up to 1,000 entries in the current app version.
Prayer-check images are not retained in app history. Purchase records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their legal and service requirements. Support emails are kept as needed to answer your request, maintain records, prevent abuse, or comply with law. Website technical logs and analytics are retained according to the hosting provider’s configuration and policies.
8. permissions and your choices
- Camera: change access in iOS Settings. Without it, pose verification cannot work.
- Screen Time: change Family Controls authorization in iOS Settings and edit protected items inside Pray First.
- Notifications: switch reminders off in Pray First or in iOS Settings.
- AI consent: if you do not consent, do not start the AI prayer check. You can stop future processing by revoking camera access and no longer submitting checks.
- Local data: use “delete my data” in settings for local profile and history, and clear protected apps in Block settings. See the data deletion guide.
- Subscriptions: manage or cancel through your Apple Account subscription settings.
9. privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing; receive a portable copy of information you provided; withdraw consent; or complain to a data-protection authority. These rights may have legal exceptions. Email anthonyvvza@gmail.com to make a request.
Most Pray First data is stored only on your device, so we may not possess or be technically able to retrieve it. Purchase records controlled by Apple must be requested from Apple. We may need limited information to verify and complete a request involving RevenueCat.
10. children
Pray First is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are under the age of majority where you live, use the app and make purchases only with permission from a parent or guardian. Contact us if you believe a child submitted information improperly.
11. security, changes, and contact
We use reasonable safeguards such as encrypted network transport and Apple platform protections. No system can be guaranteed completely secure. We may update this policy as Pray First changes; the effective date above identifies the current version.
